Science-based support of mitochondrial function for female and male reproductive health.

„Prekarsia®“  – a comprehensive approach for couples.

The dietary supplement Prekarsia®, formulated according to the patented REVIFAST® technology, contains Revifast® (dry extract of Japanese knotweed root), trans-resveratrol, Extrafolate-S® (calcium L-methylfolate), vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and vitamin D. Japanese knotweed acts as a plant antioxidant due to the stilbene compound resveratrol it contains. Folates contribute to the growth of the placenta during pregnancy, are important for normal amino acid synthesis and, together with vitamin B6 and vitamin B12, are important for normal homocysteine metabolism. In addition, folates, vitamin B12 and vitamin D play a role in the process of cell division. Vitamin D is also important for the normal absorption and/or utilization of calcium and phosphorus. Vitamin B6 helps regulate hormonal activity.

Today's fertility challenges

In modern society, an increasing number of couples experience difficulties conceiving. Fertility challenges can be related to the reproductive health of both women and men, as the quality of reproductive cells naturally changes over time.

Fertility can be affected by many factors, such as hormonal balance, cellular function, lifestyle, and the environment. Therefore, increasing emphasis is placed on a comprehensive approach that includes medical assessment and targeted reproductive health support for both partners.

Did you know that:

  • up to 80% of infertile patients are diagnosed with oxidative stress;
  •
the quality of both male and female gametes declines with age;
  •
mitochondrial function is closely associated with fertility.

Prekarsia® is designed to support mitochondrial activity – the basis of cellular energy.

Fertility begins in the cell

Fertility is a complex process in which every stage of cellular activity is important. Current scientific evidence suggests that oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction can significantly impact reproductive health in both women and men. Prekarsia® is a dietary supplement based on patented REVIFAST® technology, designed to support cellular energy and reproductive cell function.

The importance of mitochondria in fertility

Today, mitochondrial activity of humans can be impaired by stress, an unbalanced diet, exposure to toxins, insufficient sleep, and physical inactivity.
It is also affected by inflammation, which leads to oxidative stress that can damage the cell’s energy stations – the mitochondria – and disrupt energy production.

Mitochondria play a key role in fertility because they produce the energy (ATP) required for egg maturation, sperm motility, and the development of the embryo.

Mitochondria are the cell’s energy stations, supplying energy for processes essential to:

  • egg maturation and fertilisation,
  • development of the embryo,
  • sperm motility and function.

With age and increasing oxidative stress, mitochondrial function may decline, affecting the quality of reproductive cells.

Chronic inflammation and fertility

Scientific evidence shows that chronic systemic inflammation, which can be triggered by the factors mentioned earlier, negatively impacts mitochondrial function and is a significant, often unnoticed contributor to fertility in both women and men.

Chronic inflammation is therefore considered one of the possible contributors to idiopathic (of unknown cause) infertility.

Chronic inflammation can be associated with:

  • damage to the fallopian tubes,
  • abnormalities of the uterine lining, including chronic endometritis (present in up to 30–60% of cases),
  • impaired egg and sperm quality, including sperm DNA damage, reduced sperm count and decreased motility.

REVIFAST® technology – smart absorption of resveratrol

Prekarsia® contains resveratrol, one of the most widely studied antioxidant polyphenols in scientific research.

Scientific evidence shows that resveratrol has antioxidant properties and is associated with the maintenance of reproductive health in both women and men. Prekarsia® can be taken by both partners during the preconception period and in preparation for reproductive procedures.

Why is REVIFAST® technology important?

The bioavailability of polyphenols, including resveratrol, is limited.
This is why Prekarsia® uses patented REVIFAST® technology, designed to enhance the absorption of resveratrol in the body.

REVIFAST® is a solid molecular dispersion of 30% resveratrol within a magnesium hydroxide matrix. At acidic gastric pH, the matrix dissolves, releasing resveratrol, which can then be absorbed more efficiently.

Why is folic acid important when planning a pregnancy?

Deciding to plan a pregnancy is a very special moment in life. This is a time when taking care of yourself becomes even more meaningful. Preparing for a pregnancy, folic acid (vitamin B9) is one of the most important nutrients. It is involved in cell division and tissue growth, which are particularly important in early pregnancy.

Adequate folate levels in a woman’s body:

  • contribute to the growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy,
  • play an important role in cell division,
  • contribute to the maintenance of normal haematopoietic function.

As the early stages of foetal development begin very quickly, folic acid stores in the body are important even before conception. Taking care of your folate levels is a simple yet very important step when consciously planning a new life.

Is folic acid important for men too?

Folic acid in the male body:

  • supports cell division,
  • contributes to normal haematopoiesis,
  • plays a role in homocysteine metabolism.

Scientific literature also discusses folate levels in the context of men’s reproductive health, but there is no clear, universal recommendation for all men to take folic acid when planning a pregnancy.

However:

  • if the diet is not balanced,
  • if homocysteine levels are elevated,
  • if the couple is experiencing fertility challenges, a doctor may recommend folate for the man.

What is the extrafolate (L‑methylfolate) in Prekarsia®?

It is the active form of folate. In Prekarsia®, it is provided as calcium L‑methylfolate (Extrafolate®), a biologically active form of vitamin B9, also known as L‑methylfolate (5‑MTHF).
This means it is ready for use in the body and does not need to be converted into its active form.

Because of this feature:

  • it is directly involved in the body’s biological processes,
  • it may be relevant for individuals with different folate metabolism patterns,
  • it is chosen as a modern alternative to conventional synthetic folic acid.

Unlike synthetic folic acid, L‑methylfolate corresponds to the natural active form of vitamin B9 found in the body.

A science-based approach

The path to parenthood is unique for each couple. Sometimes it starts with small yet important choices, such as caring for your body and its natural processes.
Prekarsia® is formulated based on the biological mechanisms of male and female reproductive function described in scientific literature.

Studies examine:

  • processes relevant to the family planning period,
  • biological mechanisms at the cellular level,
  • the role of hormones and the reproductive system’s microenvironment.

Our approach is responsible, science-based, and focused on long-term support of the body.
Prekarsia® is a dietary supplement. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any disease.
Prekarsia® is formulated based on scientific research.
